Biographies
Dr. Kerri Novak is an academic gastroenterologist at the University of Calgary, who focused on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Kerri trained in use of ultrasound to evaluate the bowel in Germany, and started the first Canadian clinic using US to systemically evaluate the bowel for gastrointestinal symptoms, and for the diagnosis and monitoring of IBD. She is works collaboratively with the body radiologists and in particular those who preform bowel US in Calgary in Diagnostic Imaging. Multidisciplinary care is key to optimal patient management. She has 2 teen girls, and with her husband and their dog Iggy, they love to spend time in the mountains.
Anand Rattansingh trained in the UK and has over 24 years’ experience in medical ultrasound in a variety of clinical applications. He has held various positions, including managing a small department in Scotland, UK, as well as that of a Training Coordinator and as a Research Associate. He is involved in various research projects and has collaborated on research projects with PhD students at the University of Toronto. Some of his work has been published as well as presented at RSNA. He has previously taught as an external instructor at the Michener Institute and is currently a part-time instructor at Anderson College. He is also currently working at University Health Network, Toronto. Anand has published various papers and is an invited reviewer for the Journal or Ultrasound in Medicine He was also involved in volunteering abroad where he taught ultrasound theory and practical skills to physicians and technologists in both Ethiopia and in Haiti.
Jag Dhanju is founder and director of the Canadian Centre for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (CCMSU), a unique state-of-the-art ultrasound imaging centre located in Toronto. He works closely with many health professionals in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Hand Surgeons, and Pain Specialists. Mr. Dhanju has played a major role in pioneering MSK ultrasound in Canada over the past 20 years and has lectured extensively on MSK ultrasound at many academic centers across North America such as UCLA, Stanford, and Thomas Jefferson Universities. He has published numerous MSK articles in journals such as Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, and an Ankle/Foot chapter in Clinical Sonography by Roger Sanders. Over the years, Mr. Dhanju has successfully organized and run the Annual North American MSK Imaging Symposium held in Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal.
Susan Burnett-Roy has been a Registered sonographer for 30+ years. She is currently an Ultrasound Clinical Content Specialist for BORN, DMS Instructor at CNIH (Canadian National Institute of Health) in Ottawa, a Casual sonographer at Ottawa Fertility Centre and an IHF Assessor for the CPSO. She has worked in both hospital and clinical settings as a sonographer and x-ray technologist and still loves her career as a sonographer!
Tara McKay is CCE Medical’s Clinical Applications Specialist Manager and is a certified sonographer generalist registered through CMRITO, Sonography Canada and ARDMS. She has been in the Applications world for almost 4 years and comes with clinical experience from both Canada and the United Kingdom. Tara also has a master’s degree in international business from the Barcelona School of Management where she wrote a published paper on the ultrasound market in impoverished countries. She speaks 3 languages, and her passions include traveling and adrenaline-filled activities.
Shweta Sharma brings over 16 years of clinical applications expertise to the Canadian ultrasound market having worked with major medical imaging brands such as Siemens, Toshiba/Canon, and Samsung. She is an innovative, thorough, and customer-oriented ultrasound professional with a passion for training and supporting sonographers, technologists and radiologists. Her advanced technical knowledge of ultrasound systems and related products benefits all users she works with
